Cóndor y Cotopaxi
Condor y Cotopaxi
A bit about the materials: I used matte miyuki beads, huayruro or chuku (spirit) muyu (seed) in the Kichwa language, a dialect of my ancestor’s native tongue of the Incas. You can find these seeds in tropical climates, all throughout the Americas and the Caribbean. The scientific name is Ormosia coccinea. My Kichwa teachers taught me that these seeds are used for protection against harm, malas intenciones, envy, or bad energy. I got these from the Ecuadorian Amazon when I lived there. PLEASE BE AWARE THAT IF INGESTED, ORMOSIA COCCINEA IS POISONOUS. KEEP AWAY FROM CHILDREN AND PETS. DO NOT INGEST!
Cotopaxi: an active stratovolcano in Ecuador, one of the highest in the world. I’ve never climbed it, maybe one day. I remember seeing it during my many road trips around Ecuador. My family always pointing it out with such pride as we are part of the Andes. Talking about elevation sickness and cold winds.
The condor. Representation of the sky. Messenger del cielo. They can weigh up to 35 lbs and their wing span is 10 ft wide. Their average life span is 80 years and they are have one partner throughout their life. 💗Their nesting sites go up to 16,000 ft. They can fly up to 120 miles away.
The bird of my peoples of the South. Following the path of the heart, intuition, and passion. Are we living in the times of the return of Eagle and Condor? The Greed, extraction, G3NOCID3, hatred, loss of humanity. We are on fire, we are flooded, we are sick, we are tumbling, we are disconnected. What are we doing! The Incas believed that when a Condor commits suicide it is a bad omen. Condors are now an endangered species. I hope we can recover the damage we have caused. As always FREE P@l3stin3! 🇵🇸Free the Congo
